Matt Emig
Matthew Emig is a 20 year old phenomenon from Long Island, New York, who has conquered the sport karate world for the past 8 years. He began his training at the age of 5, later starting competition in the North American Sport Karate Association (N.A.S.K.A.) in 1998. He instantly became a prodigy after winning a world title in his second year of competition. Matt went onto become one of the most successful junior competitors in sport karate history. He has won 8 weapons and 6 open-hand forms world titles. His high level of competitiveness and success lead to him earning a spot on Team Paul Mitchell, a well respected team sponsored by John Paul Mitchell Hairstyle Systems. Throughout this period Matt revolutionized the use of chucks, creating very complex and intricate manipulations of the weapon, such as finger roles, hand rolls and releases, combining them with high flying jump kicks and acrobatic maneuvers. Such skill has made it possible for him to appear on ESPN, Paul Mitchell commercial ads, and the discovery channel. Emig is a true pioneer in this generation, setting the standard with his originality and awesome physical ability. His love and devotion to his craft are unconditional, continually thriving to achieve greatness within himself and the martial arts community. As co-founder of Collective Innovations, with Daniel Sterling and Vince Johnson, Emig hopes to bring recognition and prosperity to his craft through education and performance.
