| Go back to the thread list Combos!! Hey Matt gotta question bro, whats the best way when doing combinations for a nunchacku form, to keep the combos looking more fresher and more dynamic meaning as a sense if not to repeat the same combo, ya know, or is there something u do or practice that helps u create different combos and strikes when creating the weapon form? Sometimes i feel like im having a writers block, or more like "chucking block". i hope this makes sense bro, im at work and well its like 2:43 in the am, so yeah im a little out of it, but if u can reply back to me that would be great! Thanks Matt Creating I get "Chucking block" all the time!! lol Usually what I do is I make up one good chuk combo. Then I will make up another chuk combo and try to use chuk techniques that werent in the 1st combo to make them look different. Combo Continue? This is quite a tricky question Matt, what do u do exactly, when u want to create a chuck form, do u ever find yourself in a position such as "oh what am i gonna do when i turn this way, and should i do a double or a single strike with this 360 spin over here"?, kinda thing lol, almost like brain storming, cuz really, i feel coming up with a creative open hand form is definetly easier then a creative chuck form for real! I, sometimes wana do a certain something then at times i keep wanting to change the combo cuz i feel its not up to a certain standard, or ill rest on it awhile and try to attack it again when my mind can think clearer. Basically really the main question is whats a good way to help create chuck combos ya know the stuff before and after the kicking combos lol... but really what tool could i use to help that! Perhaps ur vid "explosive chucks", help give insight to that, im not to sure what do u think, maybe really i think the main problem is i know a lot of advanced moves i just dont know how to put them together, hmm well ur advice is totally needed and defintely appreciated good friend, u really need to consider doing another dvd for real bro u've got a lot of fans man and im sure they would definetly love it, well just my advice, sorry so long bro, it takes me a minute cuz its hard to get my point across really if im not talking literally at u, just wana b clear!! :) peace man Thanks Darin Creating Darin, I completely agree with you creating a chuk form is 10 times harder then creating an open hand form. Every chuk form takes me lots and lots of practice and several different training sessions before I come up with the form that I want! When I make up a new chuk form I change it probably a million times. It’s easy to come up with chuk combinations but when putting them into a form, into sections that’s where it gets tricky. You want each chuk combo to be different and unique. You want it to stand out from the last chuk combo and at the same time you have to find a place for it to fit. It’s extremely stressful! I usually write down and make an outline of what I want to do. Also video taping sections and different chuk variations helps me. Then once it’s done I usually test it at a tournament and end up changing it some more. It takes some time but if you keep working hard it will come! Rock Solid Chuks Volume 4: I teach a basic and an advance form. You can see how I structure both forms. Explosive Nunchucks: I teach chuk combinations from beg to advance. You can use these chuk combinations and make up your own form. Both of these videos will help you get a better understanding on how to create combinations and a chuk form. Apprecitation!! Hey Matt, thanks for the insight my friend and indeed i do have the rock solid 4, it did help me a lot i was able to see the pattern and the directions that u moved it helped a lot to kinda follow but then add my own creativity to it ya know, not copying, but it gave great example to what could be done while having a pattern to start from and so forth, when i did create my creative form back in 06 i performed at the battle of columbus i totally got mad props from it, after i was announced as the winner gold medal 1st place a gentlemen from tkd times came up and did a small interview with me, and asked the same old questions any person in the martial arts would be asked, how long uve trained, whos ur teacher, and so forth and so on, and i totally gave credit to u for the form itself because it was a great inspiration for me! But i will order the explosive chuck tape because what we've talked about with combos and such i just became stuck on the format that i did before and i was having a hard time breaking out of it, something wasn't clear.. lol...so yes i will proceed to train harder and take notes and open my mind more for its creativity!! So again thanks bro, till next time! peace You must be logged in to reply to this post USER LOGIN | ||
